Abstract

Efforts to improve the economic welfare of community groups, particularly fishermen and housewives, are carried out through training and mentoring activities. This program focuses on enhancing skills in processing fish into shredded fish (abon) with high market value, including flavor innovations, proper production techniques, as well as business management, financial management, and effective marketing strategies. This community service activity involves students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN), with the target beneficiaries being indigenous Papuan women (mama-mama Papua) in Onggari Village. The methods used include training, production practice, and mentoring for the participants. The results of this activity show that the shredded red snapper business training has had a positive impact on improving the community’s capacity to process fishery products into high-value commodities. This activity serves as an effective strategy to stimulate the local economy through skills development, entrepreneurship, and the utilization of local resources. For program sustainability, follow-up actions are needed, including ongoing mentoring, market access, and support from the government and partner institutions so that the shredded red snapper business can grow into a regional flagship product and contribute to long-term community welfare.
