Identifikasi Potensi Pengembangan Dan Pelestarian Budaya Masyarakat Adat Di Wilayah Perbatasan Kabupaten Merauke

Abstract

This community service aims to identify the potential for the development and preservation of indigenous peoples' culture in the border areas of Merauke Regency. Border areas have unique characteristics that influence the social and cultural dynamics of their communities. The focus of the research includes an analysis of existing cultural assets (e.g., oral traditions, performing arts, handicrafts, local knowledge systems) as well as challenges and opportunities in their preservation and development efforts. The community service method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, stakeholders, and community members, as well as documentation studies. Data analysis is carried out thematically to identify patterns and key issues related to cultural potential. The results of the community service are expected to provide a comprehensive picture of the cultural richness of indigenous peoples in the border areas of Merauke, as well as relevant strategies for sustainable cultural development without eroding original values. In addition, this study also identifies external and internal factors that influence cultural desires, such as the influence of modernization, government policies, and community participation. The output of this research is expected to be the basis for the formulation of more effective policies and programs for cultural development and preservation in the border areas of Merauke Regency.
